學期最終課
昨晚終於完成這學期的最後一晚課堂！學生一個一個拿著final assignment回來，將它們展示出來⋯
課堂還未開始，大家便像在參觀字體設計展覽似的。
課堂開始，同學必須逐位介紹自己作品背後的設計概念和原則。華人的班房文化往往互相尊重，不會輕易當著人家面前發言給予評論，好讓一會兒輪到自己介紹時也好過一點。
作為老師，我當然要逐件作品給予意見，指出當中的好壞、有甚麼應該改善⋯ 可是用英文評論的話，多數同學會寧可走開聊天；若改用中文的話，多一點同學會有興趣靠近前來聽，但便會輪到站在遠處的那位瑞士籍學生不是味兒，唯有自己獨個兒在欣賞同學的作品了。為了更多同學能夠得益，我唯有跟他說句對不起！他曾經跟我說：「以我們現在的知識，或許仍未有足夠能力設計好一套字體，但這畢竟是每個念Typography的人必須經過的階段啊！」對，沒有自己親自設計過一套字體，他們還是學不懂對這方寸之間的letterforms有高度的敏感，或如可欣賞他們每天都用著的各種字體，包含著人家的多少心力了。晚上睡前，收到同學的一個電郵：
"l would like to thanks for your teaching. It let me gain my sensitivity to typeface design. l have a concept to design a typeface by myself and add to my art work in the future, it is useful. Thank you very much."
我回覆給他說：
"It is always good to hear positive feedbacks from my students. It encourages me to maintain my belief on how to be a good teacher and continue to be passionate about it."
Mmm... 繁重工作還沒有完：要在這幾天將整個學期日夜校兩班同學所有assignments的gradings交回學校，不是一件輕鬆的工作呢！

今早收到瑞士籍學生的feedback:
"I enjoyed your lessons, they were a good mix of theory and practice. Yes, there were quite a lot of assignments, but it's definitely a good way to make everyone work and really think about the topic.
Best wishes from Switzerland and a great christmas time to you."
